On July 10, the day Faro Airport celebrates its 50th anniversary (July 10) it also signed a €32.8 million (US$36.6m) project contract for the expansion and remodelling of its terminal building.
The work, carried out by Mota-Engil, will start in October 2016 and is expected to be completed in March 2017.
The terminal floor space will rise from 874,030 to 1 million sq ft (81,200 to 93,120m²) enabling airport operator ANA to increasing operational security; modernising the image of the terminal, and improve its land access.
