The new Panglao Bohol Airport will be completed by the end of this month based on a statement from the airport’s project director.

On Sunday, the Effective Development Communication Unit (Edcom) of the Capitol released the statement of Edgar Mangalili of the Department of Transportation (DoTR) confirming the target completion date of the airport as “end of October”.
DoTR reported its revised date of completion to fourth quarter of 2018. Mangalili said there is no latest information on the exact date when the airport construction will be opened for commercial operation.
He said DoTR is coordinating closely with Malacañang on a date for the inauguration.
Last Friday, Bohol Gov. Edgar Chatto received updates on the airport construction from the Japan Airport Consultants. Based on the latest report, the power and water lines are already installed in the airport area by utility providers Bohol Electric Cooperative and Bohol Water Utilities Inc. respectively.
Chatto said there is a need to build a canopy to provide protection from the sun and rain for the airport users. He made the suggestion based on his observations during his recent trip to China.
Chatto is awaiting the reply of the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines on the request to allow the community along Alona Beach in Panglao to use the airport’s wastewater treatment facility. The usage of the airport’s facility is temporary because Alona Beach is building its facility.
The airport can share its treatment plant with Alona Beach since during its first year of operation, it will only use one-sixth of the plant’s capacity.
