Guangzhou Airport chairman confirms phase three expansion plans include third terminal

Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport has become one of the three major aviation hubs in China, ranking 13th busiest in the world, The Paper reported.

According to Zhang Shuofu, Guangzhou party boss, the aviation hub will strive to carry 120 to 140 million passengers by 2035, with the international passenger transfer rate hitting 35%.

Qiu Jiachen, chairman of the Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport Company Limited, said a third phase expansion at Baiyun Airport has been confirmed. In future, there will be five runways and three terminals.

Qiu also said that there are 20 destinations for Baiyun Airport in Europe and the United States. In the next three years, it plans to open 10 new long-haul routes in Europe and America per year, for the following three years.

China remains one of the fastest growing aviation markets in the world. By 2025, it will add more than 130 new airports.

AP II, Waskita agree to develop new Minangkabau Airport terminal

State-owned airport operator PT Angkasa Pura II has signed an agreement with state-owned construction company PT Waskita Karya to construct a new terminal at Minangkabau International Airport in Padang, West Sumatra.

“With the signing of this cooperation agreement, Waskita and Angkasa Pura II will grow to become stronger companies,” said PT Wasita Karya director of operations Didit Oemar Prihadi in a press release received by The Jakarta Post over the weekend.

He said that the expansion of the airport with a total investment of Rp 363.9 billion would become one of the foundations to help the region develop rapidly.

The signing ceremony was carried out by PT Waskita Karya Division 1 senior vice president Septiawan Andri Pruwanto and AP II airport construction division executive general manager Agung Sedayu, and was attended by several other directors from both companies. The agreement covers structural, architectural, interior and signage, landscaping, mechanical, electrical and electronic work.
