India: Indore airport gets nod to operate international flights

The civil aviation ministry has given its approval to operate international flights from the city’s Devi Ahilyabai Holkar Airport, a senior airport official said.
The first international flight is expected to start from December after completion of necessary formalities, according to Aryama Sanyal, director, Devi Ahilyabai Holkar Airport.

Without giving specific information, Sanyal said that Jet Airways has expressed interest in starting international flights from Indore, however, its proposal is awaited.
Currently 44 domestic flights are being operated from the city airport.

NOTE: Devi Ahilya Bai Holkar Airport is a public airport that principally serves Indore and adjacent regions in the Indian State of Madhya Pradesh. It is the busiest airport in Central India and is located 8 km west of Indore. According to the statistics released by the Airports Authority of India, it is the 22nd busiest airport in India by passenger traffic. The airport is named after Maharani Ahilya Bai Holkar of Indore, belonging to the Holkar dynasty of the Maratha Empire. Devi Ahilyabai Holkar Airport, Indore has been adjudged as the best airport in under 2 million annual passenger footfall category in Asia Pacific region in the Airports Council International (ACI)’s airport service quality (ASQ) rankings for the year 2017.

Paraguay: construirán terminal contigua al Silvio Pettirossi

El titular de la Dinac, Edgar Alberto Melgarejo, anunció hoy durante una conferencia de prensa en el Palacio de Gobierno que construirán una terminal adjunta al aeropuerto internacional Silvio Pettirossi (Luque).

La obra será financiada con recursos propios de la Dirección Nacional de Aeronáutica Civil (Dinac). La inversión ronda los US$ 40 millones.

Comentó que la terminal actual fue concebida para un flujo aproximado de 800.000 pasajeros/año y, hoy día, eso se ha sobrepasado. Cerca de 1.300.000 personas circulan anualmente, sumando llegada y salida de viajeros, más las personas en tránsito por la terminal aeroportuaria. El proyecto tendrá una extensión de 17.000 a 20.000 metros cuadrados, sin contar con las obras complementarias.

Explicó que ya comenzarán los proyectos ejecutivos para posteriormente llamar a licitación pública y poner en marcha lo antes posible. Además dijo que no afectará la libre circulación en el aeropuerto convencional. Indicó que la idea es incentivar el arribo de rutas tales como Asunción-Miami o Asunción- EE.UU. “Estamos buscando un Paraguay sin escalas”, aseveró. Mencionó que el Plan Maestro contempla la ampliación de los otros aeropuertos.

Respecto al tiempo establecido, afirmó que esperan que estén finalizados los trabajos  en el plazo de tres años”

Argentina: ampliarán el aeropuerto de Bariloche

El Aeropuerto Internacional de Bariloche será ampliado y renovado a partir de finales del 2018, debido a la necesidad de contar con una terminal acorde a las necesidades actuales y brindar un mejor servicio al creciente número de pasajeros que transitan por el aeródromo.

La transformación del aeropuerto implica la expansión de las plataformas comerciales, sumando nuevas posiciones y mangas (pasarelas que conectan la terminal aérea con el avión), para que más aviones operen al mismo tiempo; la ampliación de la terminal de pasajeros, con nuevos mostradores de check-in, nuevas puertas de embarque y nuevas cintas de equipaje; la ampliación del estacionamiento; y un nuevo acceso vehicular que ordene la circulación en el ingreso al aeródromo.

Para llevar a cabo el proyecto se invertirá la suma de 2.000 millones de pesos (US$ 67 millones), el cual constará de dos etapas para triplicar la capacidad de recepción tanto en vuelos internacionales como domésticos: la primera, con la incorporación de una nueva manga que estará lista antes de la temporada invernal del 2019; y la segunda, que completará el resto de la nueva infraestructura para el 2020.

La terminal aérea pasará de tener 9.000 metros cuadrados a 16.000 y en lugar de dos mangas contará con seis al finalizar las obras. Mientras que en el estacionamiento, la capacidad aumentará de 350 a 1.200 lugares.

Una vez terminados los trabajos se habrá incrementado un 54% la capacidad y podrá recibir dos millones de pasajeros anualmente.

Oman: Commercial operations at Duqm Airport starts on september 17

The Ministry of Transport and Communications has announced via its Twitter account that commercial operations of the passenger terminal at Duqm Airport will commence on September 17.

The ministry confirmed that work on the project has been completed with the participation of all relevant authorities.

It also stated that it has made the necessary arrangements to facilitate the smooth flow of passengers in the new building.

Work on the new passenger terminal at Duqm Airport started in July 2014.

The airport will connect Duqm to cities across the world. “It complements the great efforts made by the Special Economic Zone Authority at Duqm to put Duqm on the world economic map and leverage its strategic location. The runway is designed to receive all types and sizes of aircraft and has a terminal with the capacity to handle 500,000 passengers annually.

“It has waiting areas that are on par with other modern airports,” the Twitter feed said.

The airport has received 120,000 passengers since it started operations till mid-July this year on the Muscat-Duqm route; Oman Air has operated 3,000 flights – six flights weekly.

The passenger terminal, spread over 5,600sq m, has two boarding bridges, five check-in and check-out counters, and a runway of 4km length and 75m width that can receive the biggest aircraft in the world.

The eight-storey building includes a 37m air traffic control tower and offices for observatories. The new passenger terminal is equipped with eight baggage check-in systems, car rental and hotel reservation facilities, in addition to airline offices and a VIP lounge.

Note: The Duqm regional Airport is designed to accommodate all types of aircraft, including those handling large passenger numbers and air cargo loads with in-flight catering facilities.
